Ragnheiður Íris is an artist from Reykjavík, Iceland. She mainly works with textiles, where she followes the thread through the past and contemplates her own feelings and experiences and transforms them into a common reality. The thread comes to her through her foremothers, through methods that never went outside of the home. It facinates her to weave it into contemporary, into the painting - challenging the traditional ideas on the traditions of art and craft, because what is the canvas other than thousands of threads woven together?
She mixes this together, the painting and the
thread, weaves together the story of the woman and the sublime, the lightness and the heavy. She underscores the joy that comes with being a girl before the world tells you that all you desire is bad.
